The Marine Corps Half Marathon 2016

The Marine Corps Half Marathon was simply AWESOME!!!

I had a chance to run the streets of my beautiful hometown of Fredericksburg with my family, friends and clients. The weather was perfect and the amazing support from the Marines, EMT’s, Fire Fighters, Fredericksburg and Va. State Police, volunteers and the super fun residents of this great town was absolutely remarkable.

There are several highlights I would like to recognize!

SJF friend and client Rob PR’d with 1:52.23!!!!

SJF friend client Sharon beat her time of 2:29.02 from last year by 5 minutes with a time of 2:24.02!!

My Uncle ran his first race in 20 years and finished with a smile and a time of 2:15!

My cousin Christy completed her very first Half Marathon and her very first race all in one! She finished second to last! She struggled through the pain and kept moving when she didn’t want to-one foot in front of the other. She didn’t quit despite feeling discouraged. She didn’t quit despite feeling exhausted or out of breath or sore. QUITTING WAS NOT AN OPTION. As she approached the finish line The Marines rallied and walked behind her and until she got the the end. What an epic moment in her life!! It brought tears to my eyes to watch this happen.

CHRISTY IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW YOU CHANGE FROM THE INSIDE OUT!!

YOU DO NOT QUIT! KEEP GOING NO MATTER WHAT IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE!!
Be sore, be tired, be frustrated, be emotional but NEVER QUIT.

This is why I believe endurance training and races change your life. Period.
Christy you made us proud yesterday!!
